Thurlaston Moat & Lake

Thurlaston Moat & Lake are located in open countryside, at the end of a long private drive. 

The sites consists of 'The Moat' which contains specimen Crucians, Barbel 9lb +, Roach, Rudd,

Chub, Perch and Tench. It also contains Crucian/Carp hybrids.

The Lake contains almost exclusively Carp and has just been re stocked with more Carp and F1 Carp and offers some outstanding

 fishing.  If you want to catch 100lb plus of fish

or in the summer 350lb + then

 THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE! 

The site offers parking and toilet.

CLOSE SEASON 1st January - 14th February inclusive

PLEASE OBEY SPEED LIMITS & USE OFFICIAL PASSING SPACES

 NOTES

  • Fishing from Sunrise to Sunset(unless otherwise stated).
  • No fishing on the inside swims of the moat till after 7.30am
  • CLOSE all gates behind you
  • Drive CAREFULLY and beware of farm animals and children.  Obey the SPEED LIMITS as signposted.
  • Park cars only where shown - DO NOT cause obstruction.
  • Vehicle identification card MUST be on display inside your vehicle - water owner will check.
  • Keep noise level DOWN.
  • NO SMOKING unless on your peg - barns at high risk of fire - obey the signs.
  • No litter or cigarette stubs to be left.
  • Groundbait is allowed on the MOAT ONLY - a half kilo (1lb) per person per half day maximum.  All other baits on Moat or Lake to be used in reasonable quantities - be sensible!  Mis-use will lead to restrictions.
  • No carp (exc. crucians) in keepnets on the Moat.
  • No keepnets allowed on the Lake (The ONLY exception to this rule will be offical GAC matches at the discretion of the Match Secretary)
  • BARBLESS hooks.  Strong line only of the Lake.
  • DO NOT fish private ponds.
  • Please mark (with a stick in the ground) and report any wasp nests around the Lake or Moat to any committee member.
  • Be aware of livestock in fields.
  • Two rods are allowed to be fished on the Carp Lake between 1st November and 29th February
  • During the year any member wishing to take a prospective new member to view the waters, please notify any member of the committee who will issue a non-fishing guest ticket FOC.
  • Fishing allowed on shooting dates, after 1pm - Dates TBC
